Winchester is a majestically picturesque town, with its downtown duck pond and water fall, specialty shops and restaurants, fine community hospital, golf course, country club, the Fells Reservation, and commuter rail and bus service to Boston. It is New England charm just minutes (7 miles) from Boston’s theaters, museums, shops and fine dining.
The Town of Winchester is an established suburb located seven miles north of Boston. The town has a long standing and deserved reputation as being a well managed and high quality residential community.
Winchester schools are excellent, with a top 5 standing in the MCAS tests for the state. It has 5 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school. In addition to offering a wide array of pupil services, Winchester is also a member of the Special Education of Education Mutual (SEEM) Collaborative which services moderately to severely disabled children and children with multiple disabilities.
In addition to residential quality, Winchester provides significant opportunities for the business community. In terms of access, Winchester has few peers. It is served by two commuter rail stations (with access to North Station in 15-20 minutes). With direct bus service to Alewife (Red Line) and Wellington Station (Orange Line) and 5 minute access to I-93, Winchester provides easy access to and from Boston. Winchester businesses are within 10 minutes of Route 128 and various major routes north and west.
Winchester is serviced by MDC water and sewer. It also has abundant public and private recreational facilities such as 15 outdoor clay tennis courts for town use, the Winchester Boat Club, the Winchester Swim and Tennis Club and The Winchester Indoor Lawn and Tennis Club. Diversified sport programs are available for all ages through the Winchester Recreation Department.
