Jump Start 2011 in Winchester with New Year’s Resolutions!

2010 has been amazing for the Andersen Team, but now it’s time to prepare for 2011 in Winchester! It’s always hard to get going on those New Year’s resolutions, but when you make the decision to set your mind to something and you start seeing the benefits, you will be excited to keep going with your goals. As everyone has probably already experienced, the hard part is not setting the goals, it’s sticking with them throughout the whole year. Before you list out your big New Year’s resolutions be sure to read through these tips first.
Be Realistic: With a busy work schedule, taking care of the kids, meeting up with friends, and maintaining your Winchester home, you probably won’t have time to go to the gym every single day of the year. If your goal is to lose three pounds instead of thirty, you will be motivated to lose another three pounds instead of being disappointed when you don’t meet your larger goal right away.
Take Baby Steps: If you take your goals in increments, you will be motivated and impressed with yourself as you progress. If you’re trying to stop smoking or drinking, going “cold turkey” is always a dangerous habit that may bring about a relapse. Instead, try limiting yourself to certain daily or weekly amounts, then slowly reduce the amounts each month. You many not be successful if you cut back too much too early. So remember, take things slooowly.
Reward Yourself: It’s never a good idea to set up an unrealistic goal and punish yourself later for not meeting it. After two months of meeting your goals, go out and buy yourself something that you’ve been wanting. Remember, don’t reward yourself in a way that is contradictory to your goals. If you’ve lost those ten pounds, it’s definitely not a good idea to buy two quarts of Rocky Road ice cream to celebrate.
Find a Friend: It’s never easy to do everything by yourself. Make your resolutions for 2011 stick by sharing your goals with someone who can, in turn, share their goals with you. Not only will this keep you and your friend on the right track for the year, but it will also give you extra encouragement and fun ways to celebrate when it’s time for incentives. If you can’t find a good friend to share goals with, it is always a good idea to at least talk everything over with your family or friends so they can keep you accountable and motivated.
Know Your Boundaries: Always remember that you cannot control the actions of other people. Making a resolution to get a new job or get married this year is too broad and involves a decision making process that you have absolutely no control over. Some better alternatives would be filling out a certain number of applications a week or maybe even trying out an internet dating site. By knowing your boundaries and understanding what you have control over, you will be surprised to see how much you are capable of accomplishing.
Stay Positive: Being serious about sticking to your resolutions takes a lot of dedication and perseverance, so do not give up if your goal takes a hit. Remember, no one is perfect, so keep working to make 2011 the start of your bright future.
