Of all the things I truly appreciate about the North of Boston area, the array of great local restaurants from which to choose tops the list!  It seems you’ll never run out of great local fare to experience.  No matter what you’re in the mood for; you’re sure to find just the thing to please your palette!  
One of my favorite places to relax and enjoy mouth watering dishes with family and friends is just over the Winchester border in Woburn; Masa Southwest Bar and Grill.  Masa’s take on Southwest food allows you to journey to Santa Fe while never leaving the Northeast! 

The restaurants success is due largely to its Executive Chef, Philip Aviles.  A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Aviles has worked in such places at The Waldorf Astoria and the Westbury Hotel in New York City.  He also worked as Executive Chef at American Bounty on Nantucket Island and Stingy Lulu’s in Manhattan.  Aviles’ desire to open his own restaurant took him to Jensen Beach Florida, where he opened Rottie’s Fine Dining; which quickly became one of the most acclaimed dining experiences in the area. 

Whether you’re stopping in for lunch, or enjoying tapas and drinks before dinner; you’ll find that everything on the Masa menu is delicious!  Recently, Masa updated its menu and I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek!   This menu is so new; it’s not even listed on the website yet so I wanted to share with you a few of the items that makes Masa a local favorite.

~ Veggie Ceviche with Jicama and Hearts of Palm
~ Masa Skewers with Queso Fresco and Olives, Sundried Tomato and Pablano Pesto
~ Grilled Achiote Shrimp Taco with Chipotle Tamarind Orange Glaze and Avocado
~ Enrolado de Egglant “Eggplant Rolls” Stuffed with Risotto, Peppers, and Havanero Tomato Sauce

~Texan Style Roasted Chicken with Apple Pecan Salsa served with Celeriac Puree, Asparagus and Green Chile Sause
~ Negra Modelo Braised Pork Shoulder with Sauce Borracha served with Port and Fig Jam, Baby Arugula and Garlic Whipped Potatoes
~ Blackened Rare Ahi Tune Steak with Yellow Mole served with Yukon Gold Potatoes and Wild Mushrooms
