Belmont has one public middle school and one public high school, Belmont High School, with an exceptional reputation for college placement. Several small private schools are also located in Belmont. Belmont Day School services children in pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. Students can then continue their private education in the Belmont Hill neighborhood which is dotted with regal country homes and Belmont Hill School – an independent boy’s school enrolling approximately 440 students in grades 7-12.

The town of Belmont was incorporated in 1859 with a population of 1,175. Largely known prior to 1983 as a commercial greenhouse base, Belmont is historically famous for producing large amounts of quality fruits and vegetables. Now almost entirely residential, Belmont’s population doubled in the early twentieth century due to an influx of artists, authors, doctors and scientists. Today, after roads and rail service were introduced to the area, Belmont is a well-established town that places emphasis on preserving the beauty and character of its historic buildings.

An annual event held in August, “Meet Belmont,” is a free information fair with nearly 80 exhibitors from Belmont schools, clubs and faith-based and community organizations equipped with answers to any questions you have about living in Belmont.

The Payson Park Music Festival offers musical entertainment each Wednesday evening in the summer from June until August in Belmont’s beautiful natural setting.
